The "retainer clip" is the plastic hinge that holds the laptop key to the keyboard.
Select your retainer clip type
For more information about retainer clip types and why this step is important, please read our blog about retainer clips.
Note: Above are three pairs of pictures per row (each pair consisting of the clip on and off). The left-most pair of retainer clips are for the square shaped keys such as the A-Z letter keys and the numerical row. The middle set are what most larger keys' retainer clips look like, such as the "enter" and "backspace" keys. The right-most pair is what the retainer clips for the small, rectangular keys look like such as the f1-f12 keys.
Having trouble matching your hinge type? Submit a photo of your retainer clip and an expert will respond with the correct hinge type.
Please make sure to submit a clear photo of the keyboard where the hinge piece is or used to be.
