With each purchase you will receive the following parts:
- The key cap of your choice
- All the necessary plastic hardware that connects the key to the keyboard. These parts are commonly referred to as "retainer clips" or "switches". NOTE: if your key has any additional metal pieces (this is typical in larger keys such as the "shift" and "space bar keys") or multiple plastic retainer clips, they will be included as well.
- The small, rubber spring cup that allows the key to pop back up when pressed.
- Detailed, easy to follow, step by step video guided instructions.
All parts necessary for a complete key restoration are included with each full repair kit.
Absolutely. Finding your retainer clip type is a necessary and often difficult task. We make it easy by providing an option for you to send us a photo of your keyboard and our experts will respond with a direct link to the correct page where you can complete your order.
You can do this one of two ways:
- Find your Brand, Series and Model and when you get to the page where you select your retainer clip type, click the link (above the example pictures) to send us a photo.
- You can contact us directly through our Contact Us form and submit your photo there. Make sure to include your full Brand, Series and Model when using this option.
One of our retainer clip identifying technicians will respond quickly with the correct link and ordering instructions.
We offer a rubber cup only repair kit. To purchase this kit, add the key that you need the rubber cup for to your cart.
When the item is in your cart, you have the option to modify your cart items. To modify your item, click on the pencil icon next to the cart item of interest. Here you can opt to purchase the rubber cup only in lieu of the full repair kit at a discounted price. You can also add extra retainer clips, add extra rubber cups, purchase the retainer clip only or delete the item from your cart entirely.

We offer three options for all models:
- The full hardware kit including the key cap and all underlying hardware.
- Just the underlying retainer clip without the key caps or rubber cups.
- Just the rubber spring cup.
We do not sell just the key caps without the hardware for a discount. If you need the key caps, you will have to purchase a full key kit.
During the ordering process, you are instructed to select the retainer clip style that best matches your keyboard. In the event that the incorrect type was chosen, you will need to exchange the item for the correct part.
Please contact us with (A) your order number and (B) a clear picture of the broken retainer clip from your computer or the area on the keyboard where the key had been removed showing the retainer clip. We will respond with the correct part number and exchange instructions.
All full repair kits are sent with the key cap, the plastic retainer clip and the rubber spring cup. Every full repair kit is shipped with the plastic retainer clip attached to the back of the key cap to protect it during shipment (there are some exceptions).
If you do not see your retainer clip, please inspect the back side of the key cap — you will find this part clipped onto the back of the key cap. You will need to remove the plastic retainer clip by gently prying it off of the back of the key cap.
Currently, we have over 4.5 million keys in our inventory ready to ship. Every part offered will be on hand and shipped promptly. In the event an item is out of stock, we will refund the part 100% and you will receive an email notification.
No, we only sell quality, OEM parts in new condition. We would never sell blank, remanufactured, worn, or damaged parts.
Key prices are adjusted with respect to demand to prevent these items from becoming out of stock and completely unavailable to our customers. We choose to price such parts higher to reduce the overall demand and ensure availability to all customers.
Key repair kits start out at $5.95 per kit. Some key prices are adjusted to meet demand. The best way to accurately determine your cost is to add the key to your cart. After adding the key to the cart, the price is clearly displayed in the shopping cart and no purchase is required.
There are tens of thousands of different models of computers out there and although we support most of them, we do not offer parts for all of them. We are constantly updating our inventory to expand our selection.
If you do not see your item by browsing, try using our search feature. When looking for your model, try using the abbreviated version. For instance, if you have an HP Pavilion DV4-1220us, the DV4 will cover your model. A Toshiba Satellite L655D-S5050 will be covered by the L655D selection.
No, we do not offer or sell these parts of the keyboard.
We do for some models. Simply hover your mouse over this part on the keyboard image and you can click on it to add it to your cart.
No, unfortunately we do not support any other type of keyboard. We specialize in replacement laptop keys for keyboards that are embedded in the base of the laptop. You may choose to attempt to replace your desktop/wireless/tablet keyboard keys with a laptop key, but you must do so at your own risk and we are not responsible for non-fitment.
No, we only stock keys in English format. We do not carry any keys for any keyboard layouts other than the US/English type.
No, the parts we sell are the mechanical parts of the keyboard key that allow the up and down movement of the key cap. Typically, when a keystroke is not registered by your computer, this is caused by a discontinuity in the electrical signal between the contact pad of the key and the computer's processor.
Replacing the mechanical hardware is unlikely to solve your problem. Sometimes the problem is caused by contaminants on the keyboard base, but most of the time this problem is solved by replacing the entire keyboard.
Shipping
Shipping confirmations are sent via email the moment we send out your part. We ship via USPS First Class or USPS Priority. Most orders placed before 2pm PST will be mailed that same day. All orders placed after 5pm PST will be mailed out the next business day.
Depending on your location, First Class orders within the United States usually arrive in 4–10 business days and orders outside of the United States usually arrive in 7–14 business days. Please note that due to occasional delays with the USPS, these shipping times may extend beyond the estimates and are never guaranteed.
We offer the following shipping options: USPS First Class for $2.19, USPS International First Class for $3.19, and USPS Priority for $11.95.
Orders are sent out daily from our shipping facility in Southern California.
We are currently offering shipping to select countries. Please contact us if you are unsure whether we ship to your location.
We offer USPS International Shipping for all orders outside of the United States and territories. Unfortunately, we can only ship to countries that are not on the International Mail Service Suspensions list provided by the USPS. Some countries are not on this list but we choose not to support at this time due to unreliable delivery or excessive delays.
Please check your mail carefully. Most customers expect to receive a box or a package of some sort, but these parts are small enough to be sent in a regular #10 standard white envelope. We choose to ship using this method so we can keep our shipping prices low and pass the postage savings to our customers.
The envelope will have your name and address printed on it with a USPS First Class stamp (for USPS First Class orders). If your item has not arrived within the estimated time, please contact us.
Tracking is not provided for parcels sent via USPS First Class, which is our most popular and cheapest shipping method. All orders sent Priority Mail include a tracking number free of charge. No delivery confirmation or tracking services are provided for shipments outside of the United States.
Customer Service
We offer both returns and exchanges. Please contact us with your order number and the reason for the return or exchange and we will assist you promptly.
When an order is placed, you will see a confirmation page where you can print your order receipt. Additionally, a receipt is emailed to the email address provided during the ordering process.
You may also look up your order at any time using the Order Status page.
All financial transactions made on this website are processed through Stripe or PayPal. We do not collect or store any of your sensitive financial information nor do we have access to it. All credit card numbers through our direct checkout are passed through a secure, encrypted SSL connection.
Any financial information, such as credit card numbers, expiration dates and CCV codes, are not stored or made accessible by Laptop-Keys.com. We NEVER have access to your credit card numbers nor have the capability to make any additional charges to your account.
We are unable to dedicate full-time staff to monitor a telephone line at this time. Virtually all inquiries can be addressed via email and we typically respond to every question the same day. Please use our Contact Us form.
